This Week In Dickness
At times this blog lacks focus. I will be the first to admit that. Also the name of the blog likely offends some people who think the blog is a pornographic site. I have run into this problem when trying to promote it, a thing I have admittedly not done much. Another potential reader who likely leaves this blog disappointed is someone who thinks based on the name of this blog that it is a celebration of dickness, which as we have discussed in a previous post is the state or quality of being a dick.
The blog was named on a whim and, really other than the fact my last name is Dick, the domain name really had no relevance to what was discussed on this blog. Well that all changes now. Starting now I will introduce a semi-regular feature for this blog. It is tentatively titled This Week in Dickness. Basically what it will entail is me posting stories, videos or photos of examples of Dickness either in the news or just in general. Say you have a story about someone you know who has been a dick or a video or a picture of someone being one.
I know you are probably thinking there are plenty of videos of people being a dick on Break.com or some other site, but my intention is not to celebrate people being a dick. An example of one of the videos I saw online was a brain dead frat boy who pranked his girlfriend by I believe pouring flour on her and then dumping urine on her. Him and his friends thought this was hilarious, and she probably laughed about it later, but really that guy was being a dick and she should have left him on the spot.
The video above is interesting in that it appears to be a case of dickness by everyone involved. The cops beat this guy who had fallen out of a moving vehicle at full speed. He was also clearly displaying dickness by running from them and it even appears that he ran over one of the cop’s legs. I can completely understand why they would want to beat him, but he was unconscious and thus not a threat. I know it is a difficult job, but guys like this give the good cops a bad name.
Ideally this will really take off and this entire blog will just be about examples of Dickness. I don’t know how it would work from a copyright standpoint since much of it would be user-submitted, but other sites like FailBlog or I Can Haz a Cheeseburger do such things so it can be done. What I like about it is that dickness is sort of subjective so it leaves room for a wide variety of interpretations and thus a lot of material. Let me know what you think.

Upon Further Review: Doing research for this topic. I learned that there is a site called Dickipedia, which is basically a wiki for people who are considered dicks by the Huffington Post comedy team. I have never been to their site so I was not aware of this Dickipedia or their Dick of the Year Contest, surprise W. won last year. They basically just put people on their list who are Republicans. I may agree with some of the people on their list, but my idea for This Week in Dickness is to feature photos or stories of dickish behavior, not a list of celebrities who are dicks. This weeks story was an obvious one. Hopefully in the future it will feature more obscure examples.
