Miscellanea: Watchmen, Yankees, Red Sox, Post Updates

It is time once again for a miscellanea post. These posts usually consist of a few unrelated quick thoughts which do not really warrant their own full post.

I watched the Watchmen last night and I was impressed. I am not going to post a review at the moment, but I do plan to post a few thoughts about it most likely in the next few days. It did inspire me to put Malin Akerman, aka Silk Spectre II as number two on my list of top 5 celebrity crushes on my Facebook. Of course she was behind Bea Arthur who will always be number one on my list. The rest of the list would probably change if you asked me again next week. Sure no one really cares who my top five celebrity crushes are, except maybe Bea Arthur, fingers crossed, but I received a request to choose my top five celebrity crushes and so I posted them on my Facebook profile.

The excitement of opening day in baseball was somewhat disappointing as unlike in the picture shown below there was no removal of the tarp at Fenway today. The Red Sox season opener against the Tampa Bay Rays was rained out. I will have to wait until tomorrow for the Sox, but the Yankees lost so that helped ease my disappointment.

the untarping

I will likely post the next installment of my series reviewing the new television shows from this past season. So far I have reviewed Dollhouse and Life on Mars. Click on the hyperlinks to read those reviews. The next review will be Fringe, the show from JJ Abrams the creator of Lost. I also plan to do reviews of United States of Tara and East Bound and Down. I have made an effort this year to watch the new shows that I started watching at the beginning of the year to completion. Although the new shows were not all great I find it is better to at least give them a chance before giving up on them. If only the networks felt the same way. Also there is usually a reason why I start to watch a show in the first place whether I like the actors, the creators, or if the reviews I hear about the show makes it sound interesting.

Full Disclosure: I was tempted to post a picture of Malin Ackerman as Silk Spectre II, but instead chose to post one of the removal of the rain tarp at Fenway. I will probably use a picture of her in my post about the Watchmen anyway and seeing the removal of the tarp is symbolic of the resuming of baseaball and spring. To quote the crazy aunt from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation “Play Ball”.

  • What I like about your comment is that it is much longer than my original post about the Sox and Yankees. Also I like the fact that you say Arod should go back to whatever country he is from. He is from the U.S.A. so good luck deporting him.

The Red Sox don't spend anywhere near as much as the Yankees and they have still won every game against them this year.

I am disappointed every time I hear of another player using steroids, but at this point I have come to begrudgingly accept that it was almost the entire league and not just a few bad apples.

You can pick on Arod all you want, but half of the Yankees team was likely on steroids at that time just as half of the Sox probably were. At this point the only player that I would be devastated to learn used steroids would be Pedro. Thankfully he was a scrawny little pitcher when compared to other juiced up players like Clemens. So at least at this point I can say I watched the greatest pitcher of all time who dominated in an era of superhuman players who were basically all on steroids.

I saw a report that said Mickey Mantle's doctor used to shoot him up with steroids and amphetamines when he played so it is not as though they are the first players to ever cheat.

The problem with Red Sox fans is that they love to hate the Yankees more than they love the Red Sox.
For nearly a century they had nothing to celebrate so they whined constantly about how much the Yankees spent to win while neglecting to mention that they always spent nearly as much and sucked like a hoover.Red Sux fans are so pathetic that now that they've finally won they don't know what to do as winners,so they fall back on old faithfull..."let's piss on the Yankees because everyone hates a team that has the temerity to win more championships than any other professional sports team worldwide, right?"
The pathetic nature of Red Sux fans aside,I've not been this disillusioned with baseball since the Strike...I look at my own beloved Yankees and boil with anger every time I see that filthy dog of a cheater A-Roids step onto the field. In my opinion he should be tarred, feathered and sent back to whatever shithole country he came from so he can disgrace some dominican team or something.Any Baseball player who tests positive for performance enhancing drugs should be drummed out of baseball for life...they shouldn't even be allowed to coach little league.
