Time to Celebrate a Great Man
We have all just witnessed the celebration of the dawning of a great new era. I know some of you are not crazy about this man, but it is time to get used to him being around. This is the week that we should all celebrate this man and the fact that his success and greatness is possible in this country. He has overcome great obstacles and surpassed even the most optimistic expectations to achieve what he has achieved. Yes, I have heard everyone’s complaints about him.
He is not experienced enough.
He is too cool.
I just really dislike him.
I have no interest in reading anything he has written or listening to him speak.
He would be really attractive if he would just get a nose job.
Wait what was that last one? That was really hurtful. It was my birthday this week that is what I was getting at. (Yes this post was supposed to go live the other day, but there was a slight snafu and we were unable to go live with the new blog) Also with the launching of Dickness.com I thought it appropriate to celebrate me. Could you at least wait until some other time in year to say such hurtful things. Oh I see you thought I was being ironic by calling myself a great man so you made that joke about my nose and not wanting to read anything I wrote, etc. Very clever. Oh you were not joking. So you dislike me? Well at least you think I am cool. Alright!

* Not actually on wikipedia, but really it could be no one is stopping you from putting it up there. Come one it’s my birthday that is the least you can do.
It is going to be difficult, but I think eventually I could make my way on this list for real. Seriously these are the interesting ones I chose.
Ivan the Terrible, I probably will never be more famous than him.
Bill Bixby, he was the actor who played Bruce Banner the Incredible Hulk’s alter ego on a television show in the 1980’s. That will be tough to top, but I think it is possible.
Daniel Johnston, I’m sure most of you are not aware of who he is, but you should check out the documentary about his life. It is one of the better documentaries I have seen in recent years. A friend and fellow blogger wrote a review of the documentary the Devil and Daniel Johnston.
Steve Perry sang the song which closed out the inexplicably vague ending of the Sopranos so people will be talking about that for a long time, but if the blog becomes popular enough or if the Sopranos or Journey’s popularity ever wanes. Not likely, but who knows.
Steven Adler, no one really remembers him but I saw him on a recent episode of Celebrity Rehab on VH1 and there is no better advocate for why you should not do drugs. Well someone else will have to be the spokesperson, but first they should have him start talking for a few minutes. No one will be able to understand anything he is saying. If they take my advice he will speak at every school in the country and there will be infomercials selling his speeches on late-night television and clips of him on Youtube. Let’s just say that it looks good now, but it could be difficult someday.
DJ Jazzy Jeff, if it was Will Smith maybe I would have trouble making the list ahead of him, but unless he makes a huge comeback for some unexpected reason in the next few years I have some hope of surpassing him on the list as well. Do you think he is still friends with Will Smith or when he comes by the house is he actually literally thrown out of the house like he was on the Fresh Prince of Belair?
Yes I know the list is chronological order and not in order of importance, but what if someone else makes a smaller list not everyone makes huge lists like Wikipedia does. Some publications have limited space like newspapers or television shows. They will likely cut all of these people except Ivan the Terrible. That is unless it is Entertainment Tonight in which case they will probably show Diane Lane instead. Yeah she was on the list also, but it was a huge list I had to make some difficult cuts along the way. All great men must make important cuts along the way. This goes for myself and Ivan the Terrible. What too soon? His name is Ivan the Terrible if I cannot pick on him then who can I pick on. You had no problem with me making fun of DJ Jazzy Jeff and he is probably a perfectly nice guy. According the Wikipedia article on Ivan the Terrible the word terrible actually likely meant fearsome or awesome depending on which part of the article you read. Much like Joe the Plumber was actually a poor translation from his native tongue and should have actually been Joe the Terribly Uninformed and Talkative.
Actually it turns out Ivan the IV is Ivan the terrible. Ivan III was actually nicknamed Ivan the Great. I’m sure that sort of thing happens all the time where historians mix them up because they were both Czars of Russia and shared the same name. I bet that will happen someday with our Presidents, which is apparently why George W. seems to be so confident that historians will look more positively on his Presidency than current public opinion does. He is hoping they confuse him with his father. Sadly for him I do not think that is the case as I do not see HBO picking up the John Quincy Adams miniseries anytime soon. Not saying his father was John Adams, but comparatively speaking it might be accurate. Of course I never claimed to be an historian although maybe you got the impression I was implying it when I said I’m sure historians mixed them up all the time. I have know idea where you got that idea from.
